Operational Logistics
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Students will enter through the north double doors on Phillips as early as 7:50 am and must be in the classroom by 8:00 am.
Students and teachers will exit through the east doors by the playground. Teachers will accompany students to the sidewalk on Wyco Drive. Please make contact with the teacher for your child to be dismissed.
Class Snacks
We will have a class snack each afternoon. We would appreciate snack donations throughout the school year.
Breakfast
Breakfast will be available in the cafeteria starting at 7:30 am each morning.
Behavior
Each student will be responsible for the contract signed through the school. It will be reinforced through the following categories:
Individual – students will have the opportunity to earn points for behavior through Class DoJo. You will have your own log in to view your child's behavior.
Class – as a cohesive group of learners, students will have the opportunity to earn a class reward. Once they have reached their goal, students will discuss as a team and vote on an appropriate reward. We will notify you when this occurs.
Students choosing not to abide by the school contract and classroom rules (to be determined by the students) will be given a warning, then given a break from class or group work, and lastly a call home.
Birthdays
Due to different belief systems and the increased number of students with food allergies we highly encourage classroom celebrations to be group centered!
1. Hands-on experience for the entire class provided by the family. For example: science projects, arts & crafts, demos, talents, tricks, etc.
2. Tangible donations to the classroom. For example: book(s), plant(s), general things for the classroom, etc.

Homework Policies
Typically homework will be available Fridays on the website, and the due date will be posted on the website calendar. (Due the next Friday.)
The homework consists of weekly spelling words, writing prompt, daily math homework, and reading. Book bags will sometimes have an assigned book, if not students will choose a book.
Math
Math Home Links will be put on individual Google Drive accounts at the beginning of each unit and will be due according to the calendar that is posted on website.
IXL practice will also be assigned at the beginning of each unit (starting with unit 2), and will be due the same time as the unit home links.
Each home link is meant to correlate with the math lesson in class. Math lessons can be found on the calendar with the planned date to be taught in class. We understand families may be extra busy on certain nights of the week, and the homework is designed to be flexible and meet your needs.
Spelling
Each spelling test will have 10 district mandated words as well as 10 extension bonus words. Students will be required to complete the first 10 words and will be given the opportunity to practice extension words related to our content.
We will take our spelling tests Fridays on the netbooks or in the technology lab using a spelling program that reads the words and sentences using the word.
The grades will be posted in Infinite Campus in the writing content area. Spelling words will be posted every Monday (or the first day of the school week).
Spelling words will be listed on the calendar. Please click on assignment to see the details.
Guided Reading Book Bags
These book bags will come home almost daily. Students are expected to read the book and write in their reading log. These book bags need to be returned to school daily to be used in guided reading groups. If one is not sent home please read one at home...expectation is 20 min. a day.
Writing
Students will have a weekly writing prompt due every Friday.
Students will have the opportunity to share their writing with the class.
The writing prompts are listed on the calendar on the due date. Click on the assignment to read the prompt.
